Description
One night a tiny, shiny purplish black egg falls to the ground. Pepetuna is born. For five long years he sleeps and eats and waits … until the time is right to fly into the moonlight for just one special night.
Pepetuna is known in English as a Puriri moth, or ghost moth, and is the largest and most colourful native moth in New Zealand. The female has a wing span of up to 15 cm (the male only 10 cm). This book not only shows us the life cycle of the male pepetuna, but also illustrates the rest of life going on around his five year hibernation.
